Mr. Kashi Raj Dahal, Chief, Administrative Court of Nepal had made his presentation on an interaction program on The Access Initiative (TAI) on 20 November 2010 for the judiciary community on ” Importance, Legal Provision and Implementation status of Public Participation” . He broadly covered the following issues of public participation along with several national and international examples of public participations and their achievements. His paper includes following aspect of the public participation . • Right to Public Participation at all stages of developmental programs • International and national laws on Public Participation • Importance of Public participation and its linkage with Access to Information and justice • Dimension of Public Participation ( right time, right venue, right approach, right people etc ) • Existing provision and practices of Public participation related laws and provisions • Role of District Administration (CDO, LDO….) , Judiciary system and others for ensuring Public Participation as and when required as defined by laws. • Way forward to ensure real Public Participation at all stage of the developmental programs. • Conclusion and recommendations
