Malaysia: the 49th member of The Access Initiative

The Thailand Environment Institute (TEI), the Southeast Asia leader of The Access Initiative, recently expanded the coalition network to Malaysia nongovernmental organizations that will eventually complete the TAI assessment of Malaysia within 2010.
TAI Assessment Training was held on 28-29 April 2010 by Dr. Somrudee Nicro for Malaysia TAI national coalition at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the workshop, coalition members were trained on the TAI Assessment Toolkit. After a round of detailed introductions, a presentation on TAI, the methodology and the operation of the network ensued, the participants learned about report writing and follow-up advocacy activities. It was a successful training and coalition member succeeded to finalize the case studies, Advisory Panel members and working plan.
The coalition of civil society groups includes Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ), the coalition’s lead organization.
