The Environmental Law and Economics Institute (IDEA-Instituto de Derecho y Economia Ambiental) is a Paraguayan non-governmental, non-profit organization whose mission is to promote sustainable development through law and economics for the benefit of public interest. Since its foundation in 1996, IDEA has been working through three main Institutional Programs: Environmental Law, Environmental Economics and Good Governance.

Activities:

*Investigation and training
*Contributing to the development of environmental policy and legislation, including innovative legal tools for conservation
*Providing legal advice and information to policy makers
*Facilitating the integration of the environment into other policies
Improving the understanding on the tradeoffs between environmental protection and economic performance, including the effects of free trade and related economic integration
*Disseminating information and raising public awareness, actively working on access to information, access to participation and access to justice
*Stimulating dialogue on governance issues and demanding accountability from governmental officers, through specific projects and initiatives
