Amigos del Medio Ambiente de Sonsonate (AMAS) is an initiative that was established in the Sonsonate Department of El Salvador in 1994 due to growing concern and awareness of social and environmental problems. AMAS’s mission is to mobilize society in order to find solutions to environmental problems, protect the environment, and improve El Salvadorians’ quality of life.

Oikos Solidaridad Oriente is a non-governmental organization which aims to encourage open governance and sustainable development in El Salvador. The organization seeks to increase community participation in effort to establish preventative measures for risk reduction through the elimination of vulnerability generating practices. Oikos Solidaridad Oriente works in three areas: active citizenship, food security, and the management of ecological risk.

Unidad Ecológica Salvadoreña (UNES) is a non-governmental organization that advocates for the protection and conservation of the natural environment in El Salvador and the region. UNES is a federation of environmentally-minded organizations and individuals which promotes sustainability and environmental defense. UNES’s mission is to defend nature and improve the quality of life of the El Salvadoran people by fostering the participation of the general public in government activities at the regional, national, and international level.

¡Vamos! El Salvador is a non-profit organization whose mission is to coordinate action to improve health, environmental quality and development. In order to improve the quality of life for marginalized communities, they provide high quality integrated health services to underserved communities in both the city and countryside. Their objective is to bring their services to as many people as possible in order to impove the quality of health in El Salvador. Through their activities and advocacy, ¡Vamos! El Salvador encourgaes public participation in the sustainable development process.
