  • South Asia and Australia Training and Sri Lanka Launch: This training session was conducted in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on December 20-22, 2005. It provided the participants with an overview of TAI, went over the various steps in conducting an assessment, and went over the structure of Version 2.0 of the TAI methodology and indicators.
  • TAI Africa Partners' Meeting: Hosted by the Secretariat in Washington, DC, the Africa regional strategy meeting and training of Version 2.0 of the TAI assessment software took place on January 26, 2005. Partners from Uganda, Malawi, Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Mozambique met to discuss strategies for enhancing implementation of Principle 10 within the African region as well as in their individual nations.
  • European Regional Workshop: Members of the TAI National Teams from Europe convened in Budapest, Hungary, on November 11-13, 2004,
    to draft a regional strategy, which allowed european partners to identify the main activities relevant to all teams in Europe and to support regional fundraising. Click here to learn about the meeting.
  • Latin America Regional Launch was held on September 7-8, 2004 in Santiago, Chile.
  • Core Team Meeting: The TAI Core team, composed of Corporación PARTICIPA (Chile), Thailand Environmental Institute (Thailand), Environmental Management and Law Association (Hungary), Advocates Coalition for Development and Environemnt (Uganda), WRI (United States), and Iniciativa de Acceso-México (Mexico) convened in Washington, DC on June 25-26, 2004.
  • 2004 Regional Environmental Forum (REF): Hosted by TAI Core Team partner, Thailand Environment Institute, the 2004 REF focused on access issues and highlighted the methodology of The Access Initiative.

  • October 2003 Planning Meeting: Members of The Access Initiative Core Team held a planning session in Washington, DC. Partners discussed TAI expansion, the newly produced How-to Guide, and fundraising.

  • TAI was very busy at the World Summit for Sustainable Development, held in Johannesburg, 26 August to 4 September, 2002. Click here for a summary of TAI and PP10 activities during the Summit.

  • TAI hosted a side event at the WSSD PrepCom4 in Bali, on May 30th, 2002.

  • April Planning Meeting: Members of the Access Initiative Core Team held a planning session at the end of April 2002 in Washington. At the meeting we discussed strategy in the months leading up to the Summit.

  • TAI partner ACODE, in conjunction with the World Bank, organized a training workshop March 13, 2002, on public involvement in environmental decision-making in World Bank funded projects. The training was attended by 20 participants drawn from Government, civil society and the private sector.

  • Dr. Somrudee Nicro, of Thailand Environment Institute, gave a presentation on the Thai pilot study for The Access Initiative at the Stock Exchange of Thailand on February 25, 2002

  • TAI hosted a side event at the WSSD PrepCom2 in New York, on January 31, 2002.

  • November Planning Meeting: Members of the Access Initiative Core Team and pilot-test organizations held a session at the end of November 2001 in Budapest. At the meeting we reviewed the results of the first round of pilot-testing.

  • Regional PrepCom--Latin America and the Caribbean, October 23-4, 2001: Participa and WRI represented the Access Initiative at this World Summit PrepCom in Rio de Janeiro, and organized a side-event on the Initiative.

  • UNECE Regional Preparatory Meeting, September 24-5, 2001: EMLA organized a side-event (on the Initiative) for this official meeting, which took place in Geneva.
