National European Integration Council as working body in Macedonian parliament, on 29.09.2010 year, organized a public debate on topic ’Environmental development policies in R.Macedonia’’and as a representative of national NGO sector was invited national coordinator of TAI Macedonia , Mr. Kiril Ristovski . In presence of high representatives from the Government, Assembly, Ministry of environment and foreign affairs, diplomatic core and medias, there was a debate about domestic and international position of Republic of Macedonia, in the part of environment. The coordinator of TAI Macedonia, has presented all so far activities of national coalition, and also pointed on necessity of adoption of additional measures, wich will provide greater participation of public in decision making process. Also, as one of the priorities that were pointed, was the importance of ratification of the PRTR protocol, as soon as possible. …“With ratification of this protocol, the pollution of existing facilities will be visible and available for domestic and international public, wich means increasing of Access to Information’s and greater participation of public in decision making process . That kind of access will have crucial meaning in developing process of envirnonmental democracy in our country …”- said Mr.Ristovski The general conclusion of the public debate was that R.Macedonia falling behind in environmental development compared with the countries from the region, altough that is trying to enforce the adaptation of our legislative ,with the legislative of EU. As a basic reasons for this condition were pointed: lack of financial resources for realization of environmental projects, weak capacity in implementation of the legal frame from central to local level, weak international collaboration, etc. The public debate was organized after conducting of campaign for institutional pressure last month.
