TAI Coach the Coaches Training
The Access Initiatives (TAI) Coach the Coaches Training was held in Istanbul, Turkey from March 1-5, 2010. This training was held to • Build the capacity of some of our first generation coaches to deliver TAI Training Courses • Learn how to make TAI training more exciting and effective • Understand the new materials • Learn from each other and conduct the training of the Turkish coalition
The training was held at the same time as the Turkey Assessment national coalition training to allow the coaches to use their skills in a real life training situation. The workshop was attended by Dr Csaba Kiss, Coach of the Turkish coalition and for Europe, Mr. Augustine Njamnshi, Coach for Francophone Africa, Ms. Olimpia Blanco, Coach for Latin America and Ms. Somrudee Nicro & Loraine Gatlabayan, Coaches for Asia. This year new national assessments are to be held in Turkey, Malaysia and Cambodia with some possibility of conducting a partial assessment in Madagascar.
The workshop focused on covering the role of a coach, adult learning principles, learning styles, the use of equipment e.g. Flip charts &power points, facilitation skills, and how to deal with different types of participants. The coaches were filmed conducting portions of the TAI training. The training was conducted by Carole Excell, Senior Associate, WRI and Lalanath de Silva, TAI Director.Certificates were handed out to all coaches by Lalanath de Silva, Director, TAI.
