Successful process of dialogue and development of strategic guidelines for better management of environmental information

During last November, the Ecuadorian Center for Environmental Law conducted three local consultation workshops for the socialization of the results of the process “Construction of strategic guidelines for better management of national environmental information”. The first workshop was held in Quito on November 16, the second in Cuenca the 17 and third in Galapagos on November 19.
These workshops were attended by approximately 83 representatives of civil society organizations, citizens, public officials and private sector, who contributed with inputs and suggestions to the construction of the document and stressed the importance of having clear policies and strategic guidelines for management of environmental information in Ecuador as a crucial aspect for a better decision making, and clearly define the roles and responsibilities of the key actors involved in the management of national environmental information.
Comments and suggestions were incorporated in the final proposal, which was presented on November 30, in Quito to the competent environmental authority.
