Environmental Right and Good Governnce in New Constitution of Nepal

On September 21 and 22, 2009, About 37 Constitution Assembly (CA)members of Nepal participated in an Interaction Program on ” Environmental Right and Good Governance in the New Constitution of Nepal” jointly organized by PRO PUBLIC (TAI Nepal) and IUCN Nepal.

Participating CA members have made commitment to include the access language in the constitution along with assurance of putting “Environment Right as Fundamental Right” of the people.

This is the third interaction program followed by previous two programs. With these three consecutive interaction programs, about 100 CA members has been informed and actively participated in the discussion about the different issues of environmental right and good governance to be included in the new constitution. With this regular interaction programs with CA members, PRO PUBLIC is able to influence the constitution making process with respect to environmental governance and looking forward to see the access language incorporation in the upcoming constitution.
